Floor Pricing and Yield Rules
Floors per placement proposed from your brand safety profile and context, with yield rules by deal type, partner, and time. The Pricer agent in Canvas, part of Supervised Intelligence, can move floors with margin.
A floor is the lowest price a placement accepts. Genuin proposes a floor for every placement on your grid, and yield rules adjust pricing by partner, deal type, and daypart. Retail networks can price to net margin instead of CPM.
Octo, Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in Brand Control Center (BCC), proposes this capability when it finds a fit on your sites and apps. It completes the steps under Set it up from your brand context. Nothing goes live until you approve it. It's part of Monetize, and Margin reporting: revenue per impression and net margin on ad spend explains how floors can follow margin.
When to use it
Use it on any network that runs programmatic or sells packages. Your demand path sets where floors live.
| Demand path | How floors are set |
|---|---|
| Genuin Ad Server | In BCC, per placement |
| Partner Ad Server Integration | In your ad server; BCC mirrors them |
| Retail and commerce models | To a target net margin; Pricer can move them |
How it works
- Every placement on the grid carries a floor price. BCC proposes floors from your brand safety profile, the placement's context, and your margin report.
- A stronger brand safety profile, richer context, verified sellers, and viewability all raise what buyers pay. If a floor is higher than your brand safety profile supports, fill drops.
- Yield rules apply by partner, deal type, and daypart. Rule precedence sets which rule applies when more than one matches.
- Margin inputs, such as product margin and cost of goods, come from your catalog or a margin file under Audiences > Conversions.
- The Pricer agent in Canvas can move floors and package prices with margin, within the bounds you set. Canvas Monetization Fleet describes Pricer and the other agents.
Set it up
Octo proposes floors and rules with these steps already done. You review the result and confirm it.
- Accept the proposed floors, or set your own per placement. Learn how in Activate monetization and see your first revenue.
- Add yield rules by partner, deal type, and daypart under Monetize > Yield.
- Optionally, let Canvas's Pricer adjust floors within bounds. Learn how in Canvas: run your network with growth and monetization agents.
Settings
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Floor by placement | The lowest price each placement accepts |

Change yield rules under Monetize > Yield. Set Pricer's goal and bounds in Canvas, starting under Canvas > Goals.
What it reports
BCC reports these measures by placement. Reports > Margin holds the margin measures, and Margin reporting: revenue per impression and net margin on ad spend explains how each one is built.
- Floor vs clearing price: how the price a bid cleared at compares with the floor.
- Fill lost to floors: inventory left unfilled because bids fell below the floor.
- Net margin per impression: revenue per impression minus cost per impression.
Use the report to rank partners and packages by net margin on ad spend when you renew them.
Build on it
Floors and yield rules run in Brand Control Center, and ads are configured there, not in code. Go live with monetization in your feeds, apps, and partner pages covers ads inside your embeds and IAB units in your app. Receive engagement events in your own analytics sends viewer activity to your analytics. Query Genuin event data in BigQuery runs first queries on the exported events.
The ad server and margin report calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
