Offsite: what it does and where to start
Offsite extends your O&O to partner pages and media plans. Your video runs wherever your audience is, every impression stays tied to your audience under consent, and every view and conversion comes back to your own reports.
Your video travels as standard tags that any partner player, DSP, or ad server runs unchanged, so most Offsite work needs no code on your side. A tag can carry a fixed clip, or a feed that Maya fills at serve time from the destination page and the viewer's cohort.
Offsite is the self-serve way to reach beyond your properties: you or your partners run the tags. Whether you're a brand, a retailer, or a publisher, Extended O&O is the managed version. Your brand runs as a lasting destination on partner properties that other publishers host, and Genuin manages it for you as part of Network.
You don't build each tag from scratch. Octo, Genuin's Supervised Intelligence interface in Brand Control Center, proposes it with the setup already done. For example, Octo proposes a VAST tag with your content source, the format, and the buyer's macros filled in, ready to hand to the partner or buyer who runs it. Nothing goes live until you approve it. Read Offsite: generate IAB-standard tags for your media plan first for the full model.
If you distribute your content (publishers, creators, and brands growing their O&O): tags put your feeds and your destination on partner pages and in your media plans.
If you run a commerce or retail media network: the Audience Extension Tag reaches your segments on inventory you don't own, and Margin reporting shows the net margin on each impression.
Get started
- Upload your videos or connect your social profile. Tags draw from your library, so it needs content first.
- Add brand partners and demand partners. Invite the partners and buyers whose pages and plans carry your video.
- Go live on a partner property. Generate your first tag and hand it to the partner or buyer who runs it.
Choose a tag
Pick the tag that matches where your video runs. Ad tag reference: VAST, IAB sizes, and macros lists every format, size, and macro.
| Tag | What it serves | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| VAST Video Tag | Your video as a VAST 4.2 tag, with viewability verification included | Video media plans, CTV, and partner publishers' video players |
| JavaScript Display Tag | The Genuin player in an iframe-safe wrapper at any IAB display size | Display plans and partner sites that sell banners rather than video |
| Dynamic Feed Tag | Videos Maya picks at serve time from the page's context and the viewer's cohort | Broad reach buys and always-on presence on partner sites |
| Audience Extension Tag | A tag that reaches one of your segments on inventory you don't own, with outcomes credited back to your network | Commerce and retail networks reaching their own cohorts elsewhere |
Keep tags filled with your content
- Creator Content on Partner Pages: community and creator posts run on partner pages, with each creator's consent captured on the post.
- Adaptation: Studio re-cuts a published video for each IAB size or a partner's brand kit.
- Generative Destination on a Genuin Domain: a verified brand destination for tags to land on, kept fresh by Studio and Canvas, part of Supervised Intelligence. It's yours, on a Genuin subdomain such as yourbrand.begenuin.com or on a white-label domain you point at it. It reports as your own property on your grid.
Respect consent and measure
- Macro and Consent Passthrough: click, impression, viewability, and consent macros on every tag. Without consent, the tag renders without personalization.
- Attribution: links offsite exposure to clicks, purchases, and offline sales, forecasts conversions for each package, and reports conversions back to your DSP and to your own attribution report.
- Unified identity: joins offsite exposure to the same viewer's onsite activity, under consent.
Build it
To show tags inside your own app, use the IAB Standard Size Experience SDK for iOS, Android, or React Native. Player card sizes and IAB footprint spec gives the space each size takes on a page.
The tag, creative, and conversion calls in the Business Account API are proposed, not live. Live API today and the Business Account API roadmap maps what you can call now to what's planned.
Questions people ask
- How do I reach people who are not on my site? Asked by marketers and growth teams.
- How do I traffic an offsite tag in our DSP? Asked by operations and ad ops.
- Can I prove the video caused the result? Asked by marketers and growth teams. Incrementality is measured in Attribution Models, part of Supervised Intelligence, where a holdout exists.
